The chairmanship hopeful of Ibadan South East Local Government and immediate past Executive Secretary of the council, Hon. Sunday Babatunde, has commended the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for successfully inaugurating the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs after fourteen years of inactivity.
Hon. Babatunde also congratulated His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja, on his emergence as the Chairman of the newly inaugurated council, describing the development as historic and timely.
While reeling out his statement to newsmen through his Director of Strategic Media and Publicity, Kehinde Gbadeyanka, Hon. Babatunde noted that the inauguration has finally broken a long-standing jinx and ended an unhealthy status quo, a move he said has been widely welcomed by well-meaning citizens of Oyo State.
He described Oba Ladoja’s emergence as Chairman of the council as a well-deserved and strategic decision, capable of restoring confidence, strengthening unity, transforming the council, and bringing renewed sanctity to the traditional institution in the state.
According to Hon. Babatunde, Governor Makinde has continued to demonstrate purposeful and inclusive leadership across political and cultural institutions, laying down enduring legacies through decisive governance. He stated that the governor has once again shown that governance can be effectively deployed to promote peace, harmony, and stability within traditional institutions.
Hon. Babatunde further urged royal fathers across the thirty-three local governments of Oyo State to embrace unity, set aside all forms of discord, and collectively work towards promoting the rich cultural heritage of the state.
He charged them to leverage their revered authority to foster community networking, enhance grassroots engagement, and champion sustainable community and rural development across Oyo State.
