The former Executive Secretary of Ibadan South East Local Government and Chairman of Sunbas Electro-Mechanical Works, Hon. (Engr.) Sunday Babatunde, has extended warm felicitations to Nigerians on the occasion of the country’s 65th Independence Anniversary.

In a statement issued through his Director of Strategy, Media and Publicity, Mr. Kehinde Gbadeyanka, Hon. Babatunde described the celebration as a timely opportunity for all Nigerians to reflect, reset, and recommit themselves to the ideals of unity, love, and tolerance, which he identified as the true bedrock of national greatness.

“This moment calls for sober reflection. It is a chance for us as citizens to mend our ways, correct our collective shortcomings, and shun all forms of disunity and intolerance. Love remains the only instrument that can move us forward and elevate our nation to its rightful place among great nations,” he said.

Hon. Babatunde urged Nigerians to continue praying for the country, remain law-abiding, and support the government at all levels in its efforts to bring about positive change. While acknowledging the right of citizens to express themselves through peaceful protests or constructive public opinion, he emphasized the need for everyone to join hands in fighting corruption from the grassroots.

“Change starts with each of us. We must hold ourselves accountable and fight corruption in our daily lives if we hope to see real progress.”

He also commended the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for his ongoing efforts in transforming the state into a model of good governance, and praised Amb. Taofeek Oladejo Arapaja for his sportsmanship and contributions to national unity.

Hon. Babatunde concluded by praying for the country to overcome the challenges of insecurity and to witness rapid progress across all sectors.

“Nigeria shall be great, and together—through love, unity, and tolerance—we will make it so,” he declared.
