Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ibadan South East Local Government area of Oyo state today have declared that they are not part of any coalition whatsoever especially the infantile grouping of strange bedfellows under African Democratic Congress (ADC).

They thereby advised every members of the Party in the local government who might be nursing ambition to shelve it and work in unity with others to strengthen the Party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Addressing the stakeholders that gathered at his Felele residence this morning, PDP Deputy National chairman South, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja told members present that the Party is not going to affiliate with any movement or coalition, having remained steadfast to the umbrella party; while their loyalty is to the party leader in the state, Engr. Seyi Abiodun Makinde who has been working round the clock to make the Party formidable ahead of the 2027 elections.

This stakeholders meeting became imperative in view of the recent development where some political parties are forming a coalition in preparation for the 2027 general elections. We want to distance ourselves from such charade called coalition under the African Democratic Party.

“This coalition is not in the best interests of the PDP, and I want to urge all of us to remain focused on our Party’s ideology and objectives.

“We are resolute; there is no compromise; and we are not backing any coalition except those sponsored by the PDP,” Arapaja told the stakeholders.

According to Arapaja, Oyo state is completely under the PDP and there is no strong opposition whatever. We are one big family under the leadership of His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde. Therefore, we have to build on this by continuing to mobilise and reposition the Party members ahead of the 2027.

It is necessary to keep on supporting our performing Governor Engr Seyi Makinde’s efforts at making life meaningful for the people. Despite the level of poverty in the country, he remains the only Governor who has given employment to more civil servants, invested in infrastructure development, agriculture, health sector, education, welfare of the civil servants and retirees and so on.

He is the kind of leader that our party can push forward for national assignment in 2027

So, those that have left the party do not have absolute loyalty in all matters concerning the conduct of party businesses. Their major concern is how to realize their selfish interests, they are not party men and have forgotten that only God ordained

“Therefore, our commitment to the Party must remain unwavering, and stand ready to support the Governor Makinde’s initiatives and directives at any time.” Arapaja said.

Speaking in the same vein, the former South West PDP youth leader, Hon. Dare Adeleke also assured all PDP members that the entire membership of the party in the South East were united as one solid base.

“Hon. Adeleke who hailed Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja’s firm loyalty to Engr. Seyi Makinde and the PDP, however, stressed that it was necessary for the leadership of the party to set up a reconciliation committee that will reconcile any aggrieved members.

Also speaking, Hon. Akeem Ige , Chairman of Local Government Staff Pension Board called for absolute loyalty among members of the Party and to Governor Seyi Makinde administration.
