The Chairmanship hopeful of Ibadan South East Local Government, Hon. (Engr.) Sunday Babatunde, has commended the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Taofeek Oladejo Arapaja, on his declaration of intent to contest as Governor of Oyo State in the forthcoming general election.
Describing the move as a strategic step toward the activation of the Omituntun 3.0 Agenda—anchored on accelerated and sustainable development—Hon. Babatunde made this known in a statement released through his Director of Strategic, Media and Publicity, Kehinde Gbadeyanka.
He noted that Ambassador Arapaja’s declaration rekindles hope among the people of Oyo State and reinforces the continuity of Governor Seyi Makinde’s developmental blueprint. He further described Arapaja as a grassroots politician, a seasoned mobilizer, and one of the most credible and outstanding gubernatorial aspirants.
Hon. Babatunde emphasized that Ambassador Arapaja’s loyalty to the people of Oyo State, coupled with his credibility and widespread popularity, positions him strongly to secure victory at the polls.
He therefore called on Governor Seyi Makinde and other key stakeholders within the party to rally support for Ambassador Arapaja’s emergence as the party’s candidate, assuring that such unity will guarantee a resounding victory in the election.
While also commending Governor Makinde for his inclusive stakeholder engagements, Hon. Babatunde expressed confidence that history and posterity will judge the Governor kindly for his unwavering commitment to protecting democracy from political opportunists and for steering Oyo State toward greater development.
