  • The senatorial ambition of Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige received yet another significant boost as stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ibarapa zone formally pledged their unwavering support for his candidacy for the Oyo South Senatorial district.

The endorsement came during a strategic consultation tour led by the former lawmaker to seek the blessings and cooperation of party leaders within the zone.

During the meeting held at the Council Secretariat in Igbo Ora, prominent leaders, including Chief Eniade Elejire, a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council, lauded Hon. Ige’s track record.

Speakers highlighted his past contributions to the Ibarapa zone, noting that during his tenure as a local government chairman in Ibadan, he gave employment for Ibarapa youth and intervened to ensure the payment of outstanding gratuities for several retirees from the zone.

Echoing these sentiments, Hon. Okesoto Biliaminu (Ibarapa North), Alhaji Asiru Akande (Ibarapa East), Pa Fakorede (Ibarapa Central), and the Executive Chairman of Ibarapa Central Local Government, Hon. Olusola Adeleke, described the upcoming election as “payback time.” They maintained that the zone is ready to appreciate Hon. Ige’s long-standing leadership and credibility.

Addressing the gatherings during the visit, Hon. Ige commended Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration, particularly for clearing the backlog of gratuities that had left many pensioners in distress. “This gesture led the retirees to dedicate a special day of prayer for the Governor,” Ige stated, noting that the mission of the retirees in the state is to ensure such welfare-oriented governance continues under the Omi tuntun 3.0.

He stressed that prior to his visit, he had met some power brokers within the government from Ibarapa zone ranging from the speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Edward Ogundoyin, Commissioner for Local Government and Cheiftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ademola Obafemi Ojo, Executive Assistant to the Governor on People with Disabilities, Barr. Adekanmbi, Hon. Peter Ojedokun and all the Executive Chairmen from the three local governments to intimate them of his senatorial ambition.

Hon. Ige assured the stakeholders of “adequate representation,” promising to prioritize youth employment, infrastructure development, and the general welfare of the district if elected.

The aspirant was accompanied on the tour by a high-powered delegation, including Engr. Sulaiman Adesina [world best], Mr. Ezekiel Oluwole jp, [IPMAN Zonal Secretary Oyo/Osun] Alhaji Tajudeen Ayobami (Tam Oil), and Alh. Rasak Olabode, Prince Oyetunde, Hon. Biodun Lawal, Hon. Mutiu Atilola, Hon. Ribadu Adekola, Opeyemi Hazzan, Kasim Laila, Hon. Monsura cash madam, Suliya Arapaja, Hon. Saheed Azeez and Alhaja Toyin Alasaro.
