As part of the activities marking the anniversary of Oyo State at 50, Local Government Staff Pension Board today disbursed gratuity to over five hundred beneficiaries which cut across retired primary school teachers and local government retirees.
In his keynote address at the flag- off ceremony of the payment of gratuity to another batch of retired primary school teachers and local government staff held at the Local Government Staff Training School, Secretariat, Ibadan, the Chairman of the Board, Hon Akeem Ademola Ige reiterated the commitment of Governor Seyi Makinde led government to the welfare of all citizens of the state.

Hon Ige in his address congratulated all residents and citizens of the state on the 50th anniversary celebration. He charged them to continue to pray for the government and embrace peace , love and unity . Stressing that they should contribute their own quota to the sustainable development of the state. In addition, Hon Ige noted that the payment exercise will take place in all the geopolitical zones of the state.
In his words ” I wish to use this opportunity to congratulate the government and people of Oyo State on the celebration of the state’s 50th anniversary themed ” Consolidating the Legacy, Navigating the Present and Reimagining the Future” . I also congratulate the beneficiaries of this gratuity payment exercise and therefore advise you to spend your money wisely” . He said.

In his goodwill message, the Chairman Local Organizing Committee of the Oyo State at 50 anniversary celebration, Hon Saheed Akinade Fijabi congratulated the beneficiries and advised them to make judicious use of the money.
Hon Fijabi then thanked the government and all the good people of Oyo State for their immense support and cooperation since the anniversary started .

Earlier in his welcome address, the Director of Administration and General Services, Alhaji Musibau Ladele thanked Governor Seyi Makinde for his consistency in releasing funds for payment of retirement benefits, gratuities, and death benefits. Describing this as a major pillar of the success being recorded at the board. Emphasized that the welfare of workers and pensioners remains a priority of the present administration.
In their separate goodwill messages, the Permanent Secretary, Ibadan Zone 1 Pastor Adeola Oduola and the state Secretary, Nigeria Union of Pensioners ( NUP) Oyo State Council, Comrade Dr Olusegun Abatan commended the governor for his commitment to all citizens and residents in the state and Pensioners in particular.
The highlight of the programme was the symbolic presentation of cheques to beneficiaries .
While responding on behalf of all the beneficiaries, Mrs Busari Temilola gave kudos to Governor Seyi Makinde for the kind gesture and prayed that God will take him to greater heights.
Among dignitaries that graced the occasion include the Permanent Secretaries, Local Government sector, NUP State Trustee, Com Joel Ayodabo, the state Chairman retired primary school teachers wing Comrade Dosu Akinpelu, State Chairman retired Local Government Staff wing Alhaji Muniru Adesope, Heads of Departments , Local Government Staff Pension Board and a host of others.
