This suspension is not only an embarrassment to democracy but also a violation of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and a dent to our great party, the PDP. The stipulated two-thirds majority required for such an action was not met, rendering the suspension illegal, void and embarrassing.
It is laughable that (5) councillors out of twelve could claim to suspend the Majority Leader of the House while the remaining (7) councillors were not in support of this embarrassing act.
The allegations against Hon. *Akinpelu Afeez Kure* are baseless and unfounded. Records clearly show that he attended the House sittings on Tuesday, 19th August, and Thursday, 21st August 2025, and duly signed the attendance register on both occasions. Thus, the claim of a four-month absence cannot be substantiated.
We therefore urge the general public to disregard this charade, which stands as a gross disrespect to democracy and the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
