The Ibadan Descendants Development Union (IDDU), Canada has honoured the Chairman of Oyo Local Government Staff Pension Board, Hon. Ademola Akeem Ige with Exemplary Leadership Award.
The award which is in recognition of Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige’s valuable contributions, remarkable achievements and unwavering dedication towards the development of Ibadan land, positive impacts on the lives of the people and the society as a whole.
While presenting the award to Hon. Ige in his office yesterday, the President of IDDU, Canada. Alhaji Taiwo Azeez Akere who was represented by Mogaji Amugiri compound in Ibadan, Mogaji Jelili Oyediran said the union gave the award to Hon. Ige to appreciate his efforts in bridging the gap in community service, social work and human development.
He said the awardees which included the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, the President-General of Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) Barr. Adeniyi Ajewole and others were carefully selected based on their track records of humanitarian service and development of Ibadan land as a whole.
He added that the motive behind the award is to encourage all the awardees who have proven themselves as true sons and worthy ambassadors of Ibadan so as to do more, and as well to encourage more people to emulate them by inculcating the habit of giving back to the society.
In his response, Hon. Akeem Ige who is the Baameto Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, appreciated the IDDU, Canada for counting him worthy of the awards alongside his leader, Engr. Seyi Makinde who gave him the opportunity to contribute his quota to the development of Oyo State in his government.
According to Hon. Ige, “IDDU, Canada is a union that has attached to humanitarian services in Ibadan and they have done a lot to give back to their source. This year alone, they have donated several millions of naira worth medical equipment to Adeoyo state hospital. They did similar thing two years ago to complement the efforts of the Oyo state government in health sector.
The Oyo state government under the leadership of Engr. Seyi Makinde has not taken their gesture for granted at all.
I am therefore happy that this union honoured His Excellency who was represented at the event in Canada to receive the award by Professor Daud Sangodoyin, Prof. Omole and Hon. Babatunde Tijani and others. I am equally happy that the union extended the honour to me.” He said.
Hon. Ige who promised his continued support for the union logistically, morally and spiritually, also thanked all his friends and family, well-wishers in Canada like Benjamin Adegoke (PRO), Imam Ismail Abd-Wahab and family, Alhaja Toyosi, Dr. Ayo Ojoawo, Mrs. Opeyemi Olaiya Amoo (ACG, NIS), Chief Olarinde, Hon. Saheed Lawal, Alh. Semiu Animashaun, Otunba Shina, Tunde Oyewole, Kunle Suara, Aunty Dupe Oyelami, Otunba Shina, Biodun Ogunjinmi just to mention a few, thereafter dedicated the award to the entire staff of Local Government Staff Pension Board for their dedication and cooperation they have been given to him.
In his short goodwill message, the Chairman Oyo state Primary Health Care Board, Hon. Abiodun Dada Awoleye said the award bestowed on Hon. Ige is an indication that he has added values to the lives of the people as a politician.
Others in attendance during the brief ceremony were the Special Assistant to the Governor on Culture and Tourism, Hon. Seyi Bolanle (Omo Ode), Permanent Secretary LGSPB, Alh. Lukuman Muraina Akinola, the Head of Local Government Administration Ibadan South East Local Government, Alhaja Chief Dr. Ayo Alaga and other top management of LGSPB.
