PDP Remains Our Home, source, We Won’t Surrender It to Political Hyenas — Sunday Babatunde

The Chief Executive Officer of Sunbas Electro-Mechanical Works and former Executive Secretary Ibadan South East Local Government, Hon. (Engr.) Sunday Babatunde, has clarified why Ambassador Oladejo Arapaja and many committed stakeholders remain in the People’s Democratic Party despite the internal challenges confronting the party.

Speaking during a recent media interview in Ibadan, Hon. Babatunde described the decision to remain in the PDP as a patriotic effort aimed at sustaining and reclaiming the party from what he termed “saboteurs led by Wike.” According to him, the PDP remains one of the strongest democratic institutions in Nigeria’s political history, having produced presidents, governors, senators, members of the House of Representatives and state lawmakers across the federation.

He stressed that abandoning the party at this critical political period would amount to forgetting the foundation upon which many political careers and democratic struggles were built. He further warned that weakening opposition parties could endanger Nigeria’s democracy, especially at a time when the ruling party is allegedly making efforts to turn the country into a one-party state.

Hon. Babatunde noted that disagreements and internal crises are natural in party politics, adding that such moments often strengthen political institutions and make them more formidable. He expressed optimism that PDP would record resounding victory while “rabble-rousers and sycophantic elements” would ultimately fade away from relevance.

He expressed confidence that the PDP would overcome its current challenges and regain its rightful position in Nigeria’s democratic space. He commended Ambassador Arapaja and all the stakeholders for their relentless efforts which he described as courageous stand for justice, fairness and equity, insisting that posterity would judge them positively for his role during the party’s turbulent period.

According to Hon. Babatunde, the PDP cannot be abandoned for “political hyenas and devourers” seeking to destroy the party for selfish interests. He maintained that deserting the party at such a defining moment would leave Nigeria’s democracy porous and lifeless, reaffirming that the PDP remains “our home, our source, and a platform worth protecting for future generations.”

Every storm runs out of rain, and every cloudy season gives way to sunshine. Keep going — brighter days are always ahead.
