
It was a colourful and well-attended event at the Lekan Are Hall, Kankanfo Inn, Ibadan, as prominent sons and daughters of the ancient city were honoured with various awards during the 21st anniversary celebration of The Royal Group (Egbe Omo Oba Alade Ile Ibadan).
The ceremony also featured the inauguration and induction of new executives and members, as well as the launching of the association’s proposed club building.

Among the award recipients was the former Ibadan South East Local Government Executive Secretary and Chairman of Sunbas Electro-Mechanical Works, Hon. (Engr.) Sunday Babatunde, who received a Service and Philanthropic Award from Egbe Omo Oba Alade Ile Ibadan.
The award was presented in recognition of Hon. Babatunde’s consistent philanthropic contributions to humanity and the Ibadan community, even outside active political office. Organisers described him as a community-spirited leader who has continued to demonstrate commendable service and positive antecedents within Ibadan and beyond.

While appreciating the organisers for finding him worthy of the honour, Hon. Babatunde expressed his heartfelt gratitude and further demonstrated his commitment to community development by donating cash in support of the association’s club building project.
Hon. Sunday Babatunde was accompanied to the event by his supporters and some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Other notable personalities honoured at the event included Dr. Adeniran and Hon Sikiru Sanda(Lajue) Egbeda Local Government Chairman who also received distinguished awards for their respective contributions to community service and development.
